Mission

Why Join Decathlon?

At Decathlon, we don’t just build software; we engineer the future of digital experiences. We are a team of innovators, creators, and problem-solvers dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what's possible. Join us and be part of a culture that values curiosity, rewards initiative, and empowers every engineer to make a lasting impact.

The Opportunity

Are you ready to redefine the standard for quality engineering? We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer who views automation as an art form. In this role, you won't just write scripts; you will architect intelligent testing ecosystems. By championing Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) and harnessing the power of AI coding agents, you will lead the charge in building resilient, high-performance systems. If you are passionate about treating quality as a discipline of craftsmanship and enjoy building "systems that test systems," this is the place for you.

Profile

Position: FullTime (Thirdparty payroll)

Job Location: Whitefield, Bengaluru.

Way Of Working: 4 days a week form office and 1 day from home

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable UI and API automation frameworks using Selenium, WebdriverIO (WDIO) and Playwright with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Practice and champion Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD), writing tests before implementation to drive design decisions and improve code quality across the automation codebase.

  • Use AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of the daily engineering workflow — for scaffolding test suites, refactoring framework code, generating test data, debugging flaky tests, and accelerating framework upgrades.

  • Design and execute performance and load testing strategies, with capabilities in Gatling and Karate (preferred); NeoLoad and LoadRunner are optional, to validate system behavior under realistic and peak-load conditions.

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA peers to embed automation and quality gates early in the SDLC (shift-left testing).

  • Build and maintain CI/CD integration for automated test suites (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).

  • Contribute to or build AI Agentic Frameworks — automation or testing tools that leverage LLM-based agents to autonomously plan, execute, or validate test scenarios.

  • Analyze test results, identify flaky tests and root causes, and continuously improve framework reliability and execution speed.

  • Mentor junior automation engineers on coding standards, BDD practices, and effective use of AI-assisted development tools.

  • Participate in code reviews with a strong focus on test design quality, maintainability, and framework architecture.

  • Document framework architecture, testing strategy, and performance benchmarks for cross-team visibility.

Core Technical Requirements
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in test automation engineering.

  • Strong proficiency in Selenium, WebdriverIO (WDIO) and Playwright with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Demonstrated experience practicing Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) in real production codebases — not just familiarity with the concept.

  • Practical, day-to-day experience coding with AI agents — using LLM-based tools to write, refactor, debug, or generate code and tests.

  • Experience in performance/load testing, with capabilities in Gatling and Karate (preferred); NeoLoad and LoadRunner are optional.

  • Solid understanding of API testing (REST/GraphQL) and tools such as Postman or REST-assured.

  • Experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Strong grasp of software testing fundamentals: test strategy, test pyramid, BDD/Gherkin, page object model, and data-driven testing.

  • Proficiency with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.

  • Solid debugging skills across browsers, network layers, and asynchronous JavaScript/TypeScript code.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience building or contributing to AI Agentic Frameworks — e.g., multi-step autonomous test planning agents, self-healing test frameworks, or LLM-orchestrated QA pipelines (LangGraph, MCP-based tooling, or similar).

  • Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers or tool-calling architectures for AI-driven automation.

  • Experience with mobile automation (Appium) alongside web automation.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based test execution grids (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, LambdaTest).

  • Working knowledge of containerization (Docker) for test environment management.

  • Prior experience in an Agile/Scrum environment, contributing to Epics/User Stories with well-defined acceptance criteria.

  • Basic understanding of observability tools (Grafana, Kibana) for correlating performance test results with system metrics.

  • Retail industry background.

  • Good understanding of development activities in the following tech stacks: ReactJs + NextJs, NodeJS (Backend), Svelte/SvelteKit, Angular, iOS-Swift, Android Flutter, Universal App, Python, and Java (UC & VC).

What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • A well-architected Selenium, WebdriverIO (WDIO) and Playwright automation framework that is fast, reliable, and easy to extend.

  • Meaningful reduction in manual regression effort through smart use of BDD and AI-assisted authoring.

  • Performance test suites that proactively catch bottlenecks before they reach production.

  • Active contribution to (or ownership of) an internal AI agentic tool that improves how the team tests software.

  • A visible shift in team practices toward AI-augmented, quality-first engineering.
